Presidents Monday May 17th cabinet meeting in brief

On Monday 18th May at the weekly cabinet meeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced:

A four day lockdown over the Eid al-Fitr holiday from May 23-26 in all 81 provinces.

Travel restrictions would be extended across 15 of Turkey’s provinces for 15 days. The provinces are Ankara, Balıkesir, Bursa, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Manisa, Sakarya, Samsun, Van and Zonguldak.

Schools in Turkey would not re-open this term and the new school year will start in September.

There will be a partial re-opening of Mosques from 29th May

Anyone over the age of 65 will be able to go out on Sunday 24th May between 2pm and 8pm.

After the meeting the President stated that the wearing of masks social distancing and hand washing will now at present become an essential part of our lives.
