The city of Corlu is situated west of Istanbul in the Belt of Marmara. On the edge of the city is the Corlu European Free Trade Zone. There are special benefits and incentives for companies which set up a base in the zone and wish to trade with countries other than Turkey. For example:
100% exemption from corporate tax or income tax on production profits until Turkey enters the European Union (EU)
Exemption from VAT and customs duties
Production companies which sell at least 85% of their produce to countries outside Turkey are 100% exempt from income tax payable on the salaries of their employees
Bureaucracy is kept to a minimum to help businesses to operate easily and effectively
Profits can be transferred to other locations inside or outside Turkey without the need to ask for permission
