Breakdown of President Erdogan’s speech on June 9th 2020

It is important to remember that this is what we have been calling the “new norm” and the President has stated that citizens must still wear masks outside and keep social distancing.

He continued by saying that “we need to get ourselves used to the reality that the new normal will continue for a while more”.

It was announced last night (June 9th) that:

Citizens aged 65 and over can go out between 10:00 and 20:00 every day.

The restriction on under 18’s has been completely abolished provided that it is under parental supervision.

The closing hours of restaurants, cafes and cafes are extended until midnight.

Cinema, theater and show centers will be operational from July 1st.

Parks such as national parks will be free for under 18s and over 65s.

Wedding halls will be able to start service from 1 July in accordance with the determined rules.

With the reopening of many businesses, the use of masks has been made compulsory in many provinces in order not to spread the corona virus again.

PROVINCES WHERE MASKS ARE REQUIRED – Sozcu Gaztesi

Kütahya, Kars, Elazig, Erzurum, Iğdır, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Afyonkarahisar, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bartın, Denizli, Düzce, Kastamonu, Muğla, Uşak, Rize, Karabük, Kayseri, Sakarya, Siirt, Tunceli, Kırıkkale, Kırklareli. Questions that are still being asked and which I will update when I can confirm.

As far as I am aware the restrictions on bars and nightclubs still apply though music is allowed in establishments if they are registered as a cafe or restaurant.

People have been asking if they can drive if in the over 65 age group. This was not mentioned so it is to be “assumed” that this restriction too has been lifted. Again, I will update.

Although for most, last night’s announcements have been seen in a positive light, it is important to remember that as the President says, care must be taken when out, social distance maintained, masks worn and general hygiene such as hand washing is extremely important.
