Change on usage of mobile phones

The period of 7 years has been reduced to 1 year.

According to the change published in the Official Gazette, phones that have not received a signal continuously for a year will be removed from the IMEI pool. Previously, this period was 7 years.

The Regulation Amending the Regulation on the Registration of Devices Having Electronic Identity Information was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

Accordingly, the phrase “seven uninterrupted years” in the 6th and 10th articles of the said regulation was changed to “one uninterrupted year from the last signal reception”.

This means that mobile phones that have not received a signal for 1 year will be removed from the IMEI pool and will be disabled.
